1/ I read the full piece on the email status. Thing is that it made it seem like a thing done on purpose to spy, something that made me feel like you are a sort of FB. But while FB business model is that to know as much about their users as possible to advertise better, the SH...

2/ one is not. The core of what you do I think is to enhance email experience and maybe you went a bit too far on the enhancement bit to please your users. I suppose it's hard to take all that criticism, especially if you were in good faith. What's your biggest take-away here?

Read tracking is available in many email apps. This is helps sales folks make a living. Location tracking is creepy. Be less reactive to criticism. You’re in a huge vertical, don’t pander to niche tech users who can afford $30/mo. Create an entry $ tier for a wider feedback loop.

Sales folks making a living is something I give zero Fs about, given that I have no obligation to give them ANY information about me because they've sent an email.
