Dudes who still wanna perceive being a nerd as being part of some sort of shunned subculture: Budweiser is using a Game of Thrones analogue to promote their beer during sporting events like, that's about as mainstream as you can get dilly dilly u fvcks

This is just semantics, but when mainstream culture adopts aspects of nerd culture, that just stops being nerd culture and starts being mainstream culture with nerd culture origins. The current marginalized, techy, incel men always create the new *real* nerd culture.

Nope. If you disagree somehow please feel free to explain why. Again, I’m just talking about how I feel these words are commonly used, not that there’s some “fact” of the matter, or that my view is objectively right or anything.

Your first sentence I agree with. Your second sentence implies that "real nerds" are "techy, incel men" and also that they are "marginalized". Which, HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

That’s just a quick stereotype of what I mean by “nerd”. Like the OP is almost arguing that there are no more nerds, because all of nerd culture has just become mainstream. I’m just saying that that makes a different culture nerd culture now.

Also, please erase the stereotype of "nerds = marginalized techy uncle men" from your head, because it's rude and exclusionary. Also please stop legitimizing the term "incel" by using it.

Incel is insulting, but accurate. Nerds don’t need to have any of these features. I was just stereotyping offhand. It’s possible to talk about general categories while understanding individual variance. Although I feel sure you’re about to disagree.

"Incel" is a gross term that implies that one has the right to be sexually active with another person (ref. the "involuntary" part of it). It's not accurate in any way. No one gets the guarantee of having sex with another human being. Stop legitimizing this term through use.

I don’t think it implies that. It implies that a person wants a sex partner, but can’t find one. It doesn’t imply that they have the right to one. We could make up a term for people who want a plane but can’t afford it. That wouldn’t imply that people have right to planes.

Don't waste your breath being an apologist for them; it would misrepresent them. Stick your face in that reddit and see what horrors lurk therein.

Again, as an insult. The opposite of an apologist.

And again..."incel techy men create real nerd culture" (your words) reinforces the idea that all nerds are angry undersexed men. Which is so wrong.

This is pure semantics. I am attempting to describe how most people use the word most of the time, not trying to advocate for how it should be used.

It is not semantics; your stereotype is factually untrue. Nerds- people who like nerd culture, like sci-fi/fantasy/anime/comics/games/etc- are a diverse group in terms of ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. Read the hashtag #blerds for just one example of many.
