I saw a guy in Mexico hit the pit with his knife and yank it out. I tried it when I got home and almost cut my thumb off. Spoon for me.

Paring knife, 10 inch chef knife, it makes no difference. Hold the knife, rotate the fruit. Twist avocado to separate. Tap the seed with the knife, and pop it out. (And all you need for guacamole is a little Tapatio.)

Oh, for advanced course and zero waste, cut each half into 2-4 wedges (depending on size) and peal off the skin. Works best for Fuerte avocados, and Haas, Bacon not so well.
