It seems YouTube’s about to make it so the data API provides an abbreviated number for subscriber counts (e.g. “4.5k” instead of “4,572”), hiding the full number from the public entirely. To clarify further, the YouTube data API is code that allows you to get statistics from YouTube. If YouTube makes the public-facing portion of their API not return the full sub count, there will be no way for the public to see it; not even on sites like SocialBlade.
