I am genuinely curious to know how many white Americans were ever taught about the Tulsa massacre in school. It was never mentioned in any school I went to.https://twitter.com/michele_norris/status/1272166284441067523 …

I definitely did not learn about it in school, and I even took Oklahoma history in 8th grade.

I never learned about it in school, and I went to a fairly progressive school in a fairly progressive place.

The answer is zero because schools are more interested in standardized testing instead of teaching actually history.

Incorrect. Schools and teachers are interested in students and teaching. They are forced to focus on standardized tests because of No Child Left Behind, and other similar legislation. Additionally you’re incorrect about history that’s in textbooks, politicians are responsible.

My husband and I were just discussing that it took HBO's Watchmen for us to learn about the Tulsa massacre - it wasn't anything either of us learned in HS or college.
