It's not your fault at all. You were being exploited. But at least you have something now that you can put on your resume to hopefully get a really good internship or job in the future.
I guess I never thought of it this way until the layoffs happened. It should be noted though that Buzzfeed quiz workers(some of which who were laid off) always challenged us community users to create as many quizzes as possible. seems like their content generation model hinges on everyone considering things like quizzes to be frivolous. I got the impression they encouraged that mindset. Pretty messed up.
