Imagine writing a novel. You open up a word doc and type shit like “The train chuffed to a stop as Martha smoothed down her green jumper” absolutely berserk.

Asian American is a specific term that comes from resisting white supremacy and imperialism and being in concerted solidarity with Indigenous, Black, and Chicanx communities. It is not a census category or a descriptor; it is a call to collective political action.

When Black Americans talk about generational trauma and terror, this is what we mean. That energy you see at the Capitol is the same energy that burned down Black towns, lynched Black citizens, and ensured slavery, Jim Crow and segregation was encoded into American life.

I removed a label from an empty jar. Later I found it on an avocado. Ate the avocado; then it appeared on my lip balm. Stuck it to an apple yesterday and today heard "What the?!" from the kitchen (success!). I've checked the onions. What will be cardamom next??!

Is Twitter the right place for this? Probably not, but I don't have a Medium. This was something I wrote for myself, to help me process—obviously still processing, never done processing—and in case it's helpful to you in this moment, it's here (1/5)
