If I had a nickel for every time I heard a game developer say its delayed game "needs polish" I'd have my own studio by now. Not saying I don't believe them, but that seems to be the only phrase they ever use.

Yeah. It’s probably the most “sanitary” phrase since it indicates the game is “done” - a lot of other similar phrases probably lead to alarmist click bate articles or whatever… “X game still isn’t fun as developers delay another 6 months” etc. etc.
