Serious language question: Is there a difference in usage between the words "dick" and and "asshole"? What kind of man is each?
Conversation
That's possible. I think we all use the terms differently but I wonder whether we consciously know the difference.

i associate "dick" more with arrogance or entitlement, "asshole" with general (willful or not) rude or mean behavior

Thanks. The article I posted suggests that the word to use for entitlement or asshole is "douchebag"!

I must agree with . I always used these words to convey those exact associations. Now, douchebag = asshole to me.

someone can be a dick (noun) and also dick someone over (verb). but an asshole is just an asshole.
