A bad review can usually be summarized by "I wanted to like this book, but the writer didn't write the book I wanted. Can't writers write what I want them to? Is that too much to ask?"

That's what I'm saying! Why do people always have to write the books *they* want to write? What about me?

It’s a problem in general with reading (not to the same extent). As you go, you should always be sensitive to the writer’s intentions, because people miss the meanings by not gathering that empathy.
