A bad poet might possibly write a great poem, but a bad novelist can never a good novel.

Some nameless drudge, some desperado with barely a nurtured dream can sit down and find his voice and luck out and do it. Something so angelic it makes your jaw hang open. 2/

Peter Bogdanovich said that a charlatan director could cruise for decades without being exposed as such because a cohort of skilled film professionals could cover for them. Nobody can cover for a writer, though.

Case in point: the Twilight series. Yea, they made a ton of money but the writing is just horrific. My opinion only
