For the first time in my life (almost 62) I'm living in a place with a dishwasher. I live alone, so I must say I don't get it. By the time I rinse & scrub the dishes, I might as well just wash them. I understand it for big households, but so far I've only used it once this week

I had one years ago and my apt since Nov has one. It has broken twice so I just never use it. Washing dishes is like meditation for me, I enjoy it. I do love having a washer and dryer here though, that is a huge treat.

Just have the courage to say you don't want to invite me over for dinner.

or continue handwashing, what the heck. if you are blessed with the Power of Washing Your Own, might as well use it

Household of two here and we decided not to install one in our kitchen. Although, with working from home and eating/cooking 3x per day, there have been many nights where we just look at the giant pile of dishes and ignore them.

It's funny. A dishwasher is a thing that some people would say they "need". Weird notion of "want" vs "need".

I need mine. I have MS, I get incredibly fatigued very quickly by the most basic tasks. I use every possible labour saving device because I physically cannot function without them.

I don’t use mine either (alone also) - except as a dish drainer for the hand washed dishes. Expensive drainer (Meile).
