The poetry and arts community lost an original light last week: April Freely. I first encountered her work as a juror for the FAWC fellowship and we served together on a committee at the FAWC. She was passionate, smart, joyful, and she was my friend. I adored her and I her poems.

I had a close friend die yesterday. His partner 45 years asked me to help him with his obit. One runs out of words.
