I'm having so much trouble trying to figure out a way to get my cats from San Francisco to Charlottesville this summer without breaking the bank. Help!

3 cats, no car, and if I rent and drive, it might take me 2 to 6 weeks!

I was told that I'd have to change trains a number of times and it's not easy. I'll give it a look. Thanks.

42 hours driving. That is twice what I did Bar Harbor to Atlanta, and that was a tough drive.
I would go with a pet transport company, but I have no idea how much they cost.

That's what I've been trying all day yesterday and today. The cost is prohibitive. I can fly back and forth 8 or 9 times and it would still be cheaper. I'm still talking to people.

When I had to move my two cats from Wisconsin to Seattle in 1999, I used an airline to do it. Not a great experience for the cats, but they recovered from it and lived for many years afterwards.

See if you can rent an RV and then find campsites along your route. That or drive/hotel. We moved our cats STL to SC a few years ago and it worked okay. We stayed overnight in a hotel. Good luck!

When we’ve moved long distances, we shipped multiple pets as air cargo on the same flights we were on. Successful, but not easy on them. Looks like not all airlines are moving animals right now—& summer heat issues might arise—but this might be an option for healthy cats.
