Because of everything that's happened, no one is talking about Raphael Warnock making history as Georgia's first Black senator and the first Black Democrat to represent a southern state. This erasure is not happenstance or a coincidence.

I've actually seen a fair amount of TV commentary to that effect, though there'd indeed be more if not for "recent events."

I hadn't, so thank you for pointing it out.

Watch better media.
PBS and Democracy Now have both mentioned it multiple times.

They were ripped off of the glory, but they/we still have the win and the right.

No sir, there was quite a lot of talk and celebration about this. It's unfortunate that the trump-induced riot happened that same day but we are thrilled about Sen-elect Warnock and Sen-elect Ossof.

I believe Warnock is the first black Democrat _senator_ to represent a southern state. (Parren Mitchell (D-MD), Barbara Jordan (D-TX), Andrew Young (D-GA), Harold Ford Sr. (D-TN), Mickey Leland (D-TX), Mike Espy (D-MS) are all black Democrats who've represented southern states.)
