There are many awful things about fatal diseases, but one I can't stand is the implication that if you survive, you're strong/worthy, and if you die, you're weak/unworthy. We had a lot of that during the AIDS years. I survived but trust me, many who died were stronger/more worthy

Same with cancer. Everyone who has ever had cancer or supported someone with cancer is strong and worthy. Regardless of the final outcome.

I have cancer that will kill me and I will write my own obituary before things go south and it will NOT say that I “lost my battle” with cancer, that’s for sure.
