My mother told me she saw my 15 yo niece on television. She'd volunteered to help clean up the damage and was sweeping shattered glass. My mother couldn't help saying "She wasn't sweeping right. Doesn't know how to hold a broom, the poor thing."
Pride and shame!

On Twitter yesterday I saw a photo of an older woman in her Beruit apt playing her piano while all around her was the evidence of the explosion. I thought immediately of "The Unnecessary Woman", doing the only thing she could think of that made sense.

I saw that video on late night news. I was already overwhelmed by days events and taking my crazy grand twins to Target. I completely lost it. I went to bed and cried.

Likewise, my concern and condolences to you. And our wishes for recovery there. Contacted my friend and former student there. Have yet to hear back from him.
