If I get sick with cold/flu like syndrome and the corona virus test is $3,000, would I get one?
Asking for "the best healthcare system in the world."

That was my point in an earlier tweet. You are 100% correct Rabih. A lot of people, maybe even most, will not. Why, because they either do not have insurance coverage or they have high deductibles. In a pandemic, the test must be free. #coronavirus #coronavirususa

In Germany the price is down to 120 € meanwhile. But still I wouldn't pay that (knowing that test kits are not 100% reliable and that sometimes it needs 4 tests.) If I demand to be tested, I pay. If the health system asks me to get tested, they pay. I am patient.

Offer to be tested, for the public good, but by no means pay for it yourself.

If the test isn’t free, then governments around the world are saying FU. If your are a US citizen, there is only one person who will fight for you. Not the guy who thinks 100 bucks is okay. Even that is unacceptable.

And you definitely wouldn't get it in our current system. Especially if you make less than 50k a year. Is it a problem that we are trying to create a system in which everyone is guaranteed the right to said health screening? That makes for a safer population overall.
