Tomorrow afternoon, I'll be leading a book group in San Quentin. I've been inside a few times (I've even played a soccer game in the yard), and I've attended groups, but I've never lead a book group inside. The prisoners and I will be interviewing Daniel Handler!

Love it! I taught creative writing in prisons here in New Jersey. I learned more than the guys did, I'm sure. #literatureIsMagic

I've considered teaching, but there are quite a few teachers. I thought doing book groups where I bring in writers would be better. It's through the Prison University Project, so they do get university credit!

That's wonderful. Prison book groups are amazing and were part of my curriculum as well. University credit?? All the better. Please let us know how it goes. I'll be interested to hear how easy it is to get books in. I had, um, challenges.

I remember doing THE GREAT GATSBY. "I hate these people," said one man. "Yeah, well, so did FitzGerald," I said. Oh, the laughter when THAT penny dropped!
