It might be a translation issue! Have you read him. I think he's a delightful writer. I've only read The Seducer's Diary.

I'm nowhere near being a Kierkegaard, but can relate. I did a couple of successful public speaking events where I came away with that same feeling, there was just something creepy about it. Decided not to do any more public speaking.
