Between the Vermeer’s and the Rembrandt’s, when in the Rigksmuseun I foolishly imagined there was a god and I was in heaven.

Titian's portrays a greater sense of hightened emotional intensity I think.

I have the good fortune of being able to run over to see the one on the right any time the MIA is open. Many years ago when I was in college there was a kerfuffle about “overcleaning” it when it was assumed that R. covered all his works with dark glaze on purpose.

The deep feeling of the second one, the expression of fading life; so different. What happened to R. in the two years between. Even drapery handled very differently

You have to see the 2nd one on the wall. The emotion is stunning; her eyes filled with unshed tears. What happened to R. in the two years between? Even tne drapery is handled differently.
