There's a lot of anger & fear flying around out there. I think a good portion of that could be removed by education. Here's some educational stuff.

So to confirm: Ballymore built an all-glass swimming pool suspended 115 foot in the sky, but said the reason it took four years to even begin removing Grenfell-style cladding from New Providence Wharf is because the work is "extremely complicated".

No, the Prime Minister is not Head of State, and unless is further fulfilling the prescient parody of and the Dilyn, Cummings triangle from last Feb, Carrie is not FLOTUK

The amazing makes a common error in equating populism with neo-fascism. Both Corbyn and Johnson are both products of populism but only one of them has an agenda of corruption, xenophobic patriarchy & the destruction of truth.

But we also need to whack literalists on the nose with a newspaper - HARD - when we see them actually just trying to colonize our world of mystery and imagination with their own ego-driven bullshit.

Different brains experience different stories. I may be overwhelmed by the poetry of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, but for someone else it's just a 3 hour long katana-orgasm.

I'm also aware that there are different types of neurology in a lot of these "literalist" discussions/complaints. There are neurodivergent people who may like a story primarily for the worldbuilding, the things in it that can be quantified and named.

It's a swell piece. I think the deeper issue is the loss of the ability to think figuratively or poetically. In a world where everything is data, figurative thought is just...not. It's not a real phenomenon. In such a world to think poetically is not to think at all.

And I always love to see Rousseau's Surprised! Because it encapsulates better than any other the painting that subtle emotion: "This is completely sucking."

Disappointed to not see any Sorolla. I think those rooms must be closed. Guard told me they've had to shuffle some of the Impressionists & co around.
