    Our deepest heartfelt condolences go out to the family, firefighters, & loved ones of deceased wildland firefighter, Tim Hart, Smokejumper, USDA Forest Service, Southwestern Region. We share in your grief from this devastating loss to the wildland fire community.

    U.S. Forest Service mourns the loss of wildland firefighter Tim Hart. We are deeply saddened to share that Tim Hart, a Forest Service Smokejumper, has died from injuries sustained on May 24 while responding to the Eicks Fire in Hildago County, NM.

    The ongoing drought and forecast warmer and drier than normal conditions in June will lead to above normal fire potential in AZ and UT, and portions of CO, NV, CA, OR and WA.

    As we honor our Nation's Heroes this Memorial Day Weekend, remember to recreate responsibly. Use cation to prevent fire starts & extinguish BBQ's. Watch for fire restrictions & wait to do lawncare when temperatures are at their coolest.

    Have holiday travel/outdoor plans?🏕️🏊 A significant warming trend📈 will get underway this weekend with triple digit heat in parts of the Valley as early as Sunday. Even hotter conditions are likely on Monday/Tuesday. Plan accordingly for the possibility of excessive heat.🌡️

    The Wildfire Risk to Communities website () lets you type in the name of your town and gives you a map 🗺️ showing just how at risk your community is from a wildfire. It can be pretty eye opening if you haven't done it before.

    Our is continuing prescribed burns today with our partners . Prescribed fire helps improve forest health and reduce the risk of wildfire by removing debris and fuels with controlled burns under prescription with safety as our top priority always.

    We need your help to prepare for & prevent wildfires this year. 91% of CA wildfire was human caused in 2020. Fewer human-caused fires, will not only help protect communities from wildfire, but also preserve firefighting resources. 2,427,946 acres of NF land burned in CA last yr.
