interesting how spider-man, the fastest selling playstation exclusive of All Time, is an entirely offline singleplayer story-driven game; it doesn't have any features whatsoever that require an internet connection, not even leaderboards.

No I think it more so has to do with the fact that for a bit the talk of the industry was that single player was dying and companies like EA were saying the consumer doesn't really want single player games anymore

I don’t think it’s interesting. Most gamers are at the age where Spider-Man was childhood to them. And the way games are made now it would be silly not to buy it.
