/ Clicking on any link on the main page generates more and more tabs. Some of them caused the fan on my laptop to go into overdrive. I didn't check to see if in-browser cryptominers were being run.

/ Sites like these, while not guaranteed to be malicious, have the potential to be. Ads that load in those additional tabs are sourced from pools that often contain exploit kits and other malicious stuff. Many of the ads are most certainly scams.

/ Links to this site were published by three Twitter accounts - News Summed Up Canada, NZ, and Kenya. All were created in June 2016, have the same logo and background, and have published hundreds of thousands of tweets. Their tweets get almost no engagement.pic.twitter.com/oFhSmvFZfb

/ However, the News Summed Up site does get quite a bit of traffic (mostly driven by search). They also have a Facebook page, but most of its posts link to tweets.pic.twitter.com/kBwhgWsO9m

/ It turns out that some other News Summed Up accounts exist. They're all dormant, and haven't tweeted yet.pic.twitter.com/L692kNiGRa

/ Two of their active accounts have shortened links in their bios. One of them is dead. The other could still be resolved. It lead to what looked like an app on Google Play Store. That link no longer works, but I found their app by searching the store.pic.twitter.com/DZClC2qYvg

/ The app has 46 reviews, and a 5-star rating. There's no way those reviews could be fake, right?pic.twitter.com/eerG59r9Rg

/ All three active accounts include an email address in their bio. They all publish tweets via the API, using an app named "Brand Whistle". These things are all linked.pic.twitter.com/BVD4ruT781

/ In summary, the use of political/current events news headlines to lure people to malicious sites isn't something we've really seen before. Newssummedup, while not intentionally malicious, represents an interesting idea that we might see more of in the future.
