@qwertyoruiop a Dynamic linker like kxld in OS X??

@tweakbsd no, no: imagine dyld running in kernel space and access to dl* functions via syscalls -
@qwertyoruiop ok, and what kind of symbols do binaries using these dl* func try to bind?? not sure what Sony tries to solve here... -
@tweakbsd i believe it's due to their joke of a DRM / encryption system. probably weren't able to do it properly so opted for an huge hack. -
@qwertyoruiop drm could be it. Restrict binding of symbols to signed binaries probably so no others can call into libs... -
@tweakbsd also: JIT code is forbidden from sys calling, could be a form of "protection" (although trivial to get around thanks to ROP/JOP) -
@qwertyoruiop x509 in kernel would also make a great attack surface, not trivial to get done right... -
@tweakbsd i am unsure about details.

@qwertyoruiop Sony's lack of code quality has been a console hacker's best tool for a very long time now. -
@ooPo@qwertyoruiop They're historically a hardware company + in my experience Japan has a hard time valuing software engineers properly -
@ooPo@qwertyoruiop So my point is: I'm not totally surprised at your statements :)
