Spent most of today trying to get a young man into drug treatment. I've said this a lot, & am working to change it-- our city doesn't prioritize immediate, on demand treatment. It's complicated to access w lots of barriers. And Fentanyl is brutal unlike anything we've ever seen.

To truly face this crisis head on, yes we need expanded harm reduction. We need law enforcement to stop fentanyl dealing. We also need to get serious about treatment. It needs to be easy to access, streamlined coordination, intensive case management. It currently is not.

Effective treatment requires a lot of support. It requires multiple people asking again and again. It requires not giving up on someone when they've walked away many times. It requires stopping such easy access. That's what it takes to save people and save lives and it's worth it

The situation in our city w fentanyl addiction has spiraled out of control. If people are left out there to continue using, w/o intervention, most will eventually die. The status quo is a death sentence for 100s, maybe 1000s in 2021. I'm going to fight harder for bigger changes

But your boy @chesaboudin says PD needs to bring him kilos before he’ll do anything. You need to educate your boy on the actual amount of fentanyl it takes to OD....or else fentanyl dealers will never be held accountable & problem will continue.
