Very sad. This is right in front of our store which also got broken into last night. I love this city and we need to help one another but this is unacceptable. What is being done to address this @LondonBreed @chesaboudin?https://twitter.com/SWTLBlockSafety/status/1262530120083836929 …

Jacob I’m adding
@MattHaneySF who is the supervisor for this location. Matt, businesses like Philz are core to the success of our city. And everyone, of all ages, deserve safe streets.1 reply 2 retweets 24 likes -

Yes, Jacob and I have met before, and are in touch. I'll do whatever I can to support him.

Help us recall our DA Matt. You are better than this. San Francisco is better than this. It is time for leaders to lead. https://elections.cdn.sos.ca.gov/recalls/recall-procedures-guide.pdf …

Matt (Brezina), I know you are coming of a place of caring deeply about SF but trying to overturn the will of the voters to get a DA who is all about throwing people in cages (currently overrun with COVID cases at that) is not the answer, regardless of legitimate frustrations.

Recalls are part of our democratic process. The appropriate use of the judicial system is outside my area of expertise. I understand legit covid concerns with jails. I also think a trusted DA is important to our city’s success, and I think voters will turn on chesa.

Then they can vote that way at the next election. If the appropriate use of the judicial system isn't your expertise, why push to put people in cages during a pandemic (or ever)? Why push for use of deadly force that we know is applied in a racist way by SFPD?

For those of us who could easily be SFPD's next oopsie, this is as much of a life or death issue as bike lanes. I urge you to reconsider this sort of reactionary attitude.

This. I voted for and still support Chesa. There is remarkably little evidence that having a DA that aggressively tries to lock people up actually reduces crime, but it does worsen outcomes for people of color, see eg https://www.aeaweb.org/conference/2019/preliminary/paper/9bQ48ZTA …

Another study here. Understandable that people are frustrated to see crimes happening and feel like things are out of control, but I don't agree with the leap from that to: "more incarceration will fix it" and "it must be the DA's fault." https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2019/11/the-effect-of-district-attourneys-on-criminal-justice-outcomes.html …
