#Philosophy,#psychophysics &#neurology; together to better understand#FND. Announcing the publication of our interdisciplinary study of vision in FND. I think, therefore
@CallMeSipo has probably written about it. Thought-provoking piece from@MonashUni's resident Descartes expert.https://twitter.com/CallMeSipo/status/1223821937517846529 …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo -

One final note - all of the
#Matlab &#Rstats code used in this study is openly and freely available for others to use. We've also made all of the (de-identified) data for every participant available. We take this as evidence for a difference in visual processing
between people with motor disorders (#FND or otherwise) and people that are similar to them in the general population. It's early days yet... But maybe those theories from
#neuroscience are onto something!

So what did we find?
#attention#metacognition and#expectations were the same between#FND and control participants... But
visual sensitivity
not so much. Watch the animation below for details #scicomm 5/6pic.twitter.com/MsdfQ6Sxz1Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo -
Thanks to the incredible
#MovementDisorder community in#Melbourne we were able to test 20 patients with#FND, 20 patients with organic movement disorders, & 20 carefully matched control participants. Without their help this wouldn't have been possible

Vision
? That's right. New theories of #FND from
#neuroscience (especially#PredictiveCoding) suggest the symptoms of these disorders can be traced to basic brain processes, and will extend to other areas. We tested this remarkable hypothesis. 2/6pic.twitter.com/oKBOeWXT4bShow this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo -

Careful analysis of 'Life as we know it'. Great to see colab between Biehl/Kanai and Monash physicist Felix Pollock! (Felix also known in

The latest hit by Jorge & The Brians (
@BrianOdegaard2 & B. Maniscalco) is out! We argue that to find the neural correlates of *conscious* perception—not just perception—task performance between conscious and unconscious trials needs to be matched. 1/4https://psyarxiv.com/8zhy3/Show this threadThanks.
