        And I hate this attitude from schools that they own your children's time. There are perfectly valid reasons to occasionally miss.

        My dad used to write me excuse notes that said, "My daughter missed school with her father's permission." No other explanation. Love it.

        My mom is a retired public school teacher and she always encouraged parents to take their kids out for travels.
