As well as bringing back short and snappy songs and riffs (and never playing snoozy blues like his pub rock contemporaries), Wilko was a huge influence on the Gang of Four and bands thereafter. The Canvey Island demon who invented post-punk.

The Feelgoods are possibly the most influential and yet under discussed bands of the last fifty odd years. The old man played Down By The Jetty to calm me down as a baby (weirdly worked despite the amphetamine spiked vibe). Wilko forever!

Terrible day for famous Johnsons. Wilco and David will be sadly missed. Anyone checked on Boris 🤞

No need to slag off pub rock. Kokomo, Chilli Willi, Kilburns weren’t playing ‘snoozy blues’

Er, sorry Dr Feelgood were around pre punk.
I saw them in 76 at Hammersmith odeon, my first live gig.
