I've seen so many men I work with fast tracked to senior and principal while my managers tell me I'm doing well. Always wonder what the difference between our 1:1 meetings are.

It's always a black box so I don't know about colleagues. It always feels futile because I know my company doesn't pay competitively (still happy to work there). I'm more interested in thoughtful colleagues, not-immoral business model, & growth opportunities.

But I totally agree that generally it doesn’t happen. I’ve received my “promotions” by upping my salary expectations each job switch and some light bullshit.
