PSA because it drives me bonkers to see photos tagged as both: Seals and sea lions are all pinnipeds, but they exist in different families. They’re fairly easy to tell apart.

Seals (Phocidae, or true seals) *do not* have ears and *do* have little claws at the end of their stubby forelimb flipper nubbins. And they cannot walk on land. The best they can do is literally “galumph.”pic.twitter.com/lpNE0l5w8V

This has been a PSA from a pinniped non-expert and an excuse for me to spend time laughing at seal GIFs and talking about how they’re superior to sea lions. Because the rounder the animal, the better.
