Though it is leading to a more logical conclusion, I find myself hoping that it ends with a weird discovery that makes you think there will be a second book - one that indicates that the original world was also a simulation, or that there is a way to break out, etc

There is copious room for a second book, which I definitely won't be writing. The epilogue will cover this somewhat

I literally couldn't figure out a happy ending which didn't overthrow previously established facts and thereby cheat the reader. But also, I don't think Laura necessarily deserves one
