Unicode doesn't have a concept of string reversal, which means that arguably there is no such thing as a palindrome

Other than, as I said, palindromes. Which are kind of a toy, invented problem, so better suited for having its own toy rules/constraints

Absolutely. Palindromes are toys for English, but may not even make sense in other languages.
