Frankly we never learned anything about anything, even after Marc Laidlaw's capstone. Which is fine, it's good and tonally correct

Exactly. It was all high concept sci-fi bobbins anyway; maybe the "plot" of Half-Life is "alien intelligences are unknowable and terrifying"
