"The eighteen hundreds" sometimes means 1800—1809 and sometimes 1800—1899. It's dumb. Let's scrap it. "Eighteen oh ex" "Eighteen exty ex"

That rule works, but feels weird for decades where the century digit is zero: "One thousand oh ex" "Twenty oh ex"
