I'm also trying to rewrite the ending of Ra. I think that's much more tractable than the full-length Fine Structure rewrite.

In both those works you start with premises common in fantasy (spells/superpowers), spin them in a very cool way(programming/power increase)

...only to reduce the significance of them to zero by the middle on the story, focusing entirely on larger scale (dream world/cosmology)
