I view the Prisoner's Dilemma as a way to measure the altruism of the prisoner. Cooperation is a personal risk which could benefit everybody
The whole world is a Prisoner's Dilemma and gradually everybody is choosing to defect

In the Prisoner's Dilemma, cooperating with the prosecutors is called "defection". Staying silent is called "cooperation".
