      It seems the inventor, Paul V. C. Hough, isn't notable enough to have a Wikipedia entry, let alone a pronunciation guide to his last name

      @qntm generally -ough in names is pronounced "uff", like "Clough". I don't think anyone will mind if you just avoid ever saying it, though.
