@qntm I think that for novices with rudimentary understanding of programming (like Dijkstra) GOTO was a relatable way of attacking BASIC.

@rhymebyter Are you aware that Dijkstra's article specifically relates to higher-level languages only, i.e. not assembly language?

@qntm Yes. He is still incorrect! The industry moved on, and he is dead. I will harp on it until people stop citing him.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@rhymebyter Am I understanding this? Dijkstra: "GOTO in languages other than asm is bad", you: "GOTO in asm is good, therefore GOTO is good"

@qntm Given that you respond to each of my responses with a question, I am tired of answering you as you get no closer to resolution.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@rhymebyter I mean if you wanted to argue in favour of URLs as GOTOs, why not link to NPM itself, or a case where NPM worked great

@qntm Because you asked a question about such use cases, and they exist! Clearly, you are parsing very little information from my words.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
@rhymebyter Dijkstra: "GOTO in high-level languages is bad", you: "GOTO is good in NPM! [gives example where it failed]"
