      @qntm & in most asm opcodes, there is JMP, which is functionally equivalent. Dijkstra gets too much credit for few meaningful contributions.

      @qntm 1. It was never bad. Dijkstra was wrong. 2. asm is more efficient than BASIC. 3. What is a URL link or ptr? Same idea, & ubiquitous.

          @qntm GOTO was most commonly implemented in BASIC. BASIC has never been known for being an efficient or optimized language.

          @qntm There are reasons to steer programmers away from BASIC, but GOTO is not one of those reasons, such constructs predate BASIC.
