My resolution is to stop being negative about technology on Twitter. Now for a subjective diatribe about Docker's poor use of analogies

"Like a shipping container, a Docker container can be used anywhere!" "Wow! Any architecture I like?" "No, only x86-64."

"But a Docker container runs on other x86-64 OSes, right?" "Sure!" [Windows port of Docker is the Linux version running in a VM]

"Okay, so a group of Docker containers is called a 'ship' or a 'port', right? Maybe a 'dock'?" "No."

"I see in your logo there's a whale carrying shipping containers. Perhaps a Docker host is called a 'whale'?" "No."

"So what's a group of containers called?" "Most people call it a 'fleet'." "That's for ships." "Or a pod." "That's for whales."

"You list running containers using `docker ps`. Cool, does that mean the flags are the same as for `ps`?" "No. Completely different."

"If Docker containers are like processes, can I use `docker top` to see a table of containers and their CPU usage etc.?" "No."
