Adam Wheeler was infected with SCP-3125 like everybody else. He is more or less immune because his elevated natural level of resistance, and the help of a third party, enabled him to make a lengthy recovery

Red himself explains why he appears at the end of "Blood/Brain". He was tracking Adam, and was not able to track him well, and had even briefly lost track of him entirely, and he wanted to know why, and why Adam was still resisting

I had difficulty understanding Red’s role/capabilities. Is he a foothold, a lynchpin, an avatar, an independent agent of the overall entity, or is he the full embodiment of the entity and everything else is infection?
