In Super Mario Odyssey speedrunning you set the Switch's system clock to 1:52am on Sunday 8 March, then 8 minutes into the run the clock jumps forward one hour, causing a seed to grow instantly instead of taking 15+ real-time minuteshttps://smo-speedrun.fandom.com/wiki/DST_Abuse

Banning DST wouldn't kill this strategy, anyway, you can always set your clock back to 8 March 2020 no matter what blissful future year of perfectly continuous civil time you live in

Do you remember the time Morocco decided, less than 48 hours before the clocks were due to go back, to change the law and stay on permanent DST

The best part is the clocks were due to go back at 3:00 on a Sunday, so the fateful announcement was made with no warning in the middle of Friday

But they did it! And we could do it! Right now! Maybe "with no warning, at the last second" would even be the best way to do it. It would hurt, briefly. And then it would stop hurting, forever
