For reference, I believe that at present http://qntm.org is almost completely legible without JavaScript except for things like HATETRIS. Also, leaving comments system requires JavaScript

...disappointed and unhappy, but also fine.

Confused, potentially. "Readable" is an unusual way to put it. I'm most happy if it's something like navigation or layout being obviously broken. Subtle errors suck. (<noscript> warnings aren't 100% reliable). Fetching body text in JS is a sin, but I shouldn't hate the sinner :-)

honestly if you can? only use javascript for optional amenities. if you have it on, it improves the experience, but you have it off, you can still browse the site.

I wouldn't mind, but I'd find it a bit odd since the site is so simple. I'm definitely not opposed to JS / I think that anyone running noscript is literally insane.

Would be convenient if your longer pages could still look reasonably correct in Firefox's reader mode

I've uMatrix set up to enable first-party scripts by default, and I guess I don't mind whitelisting other sources. But honestly, I appreciate that your website is simple, functional, and looks pretty good. I tend to associate scripts with bloated feature-creep.
