The primary motivation for this film was clearly Vince Gilligan being constantly asked by fans "But what happened to Jesse after he got away???" Answer, HE GOT AWAY, OBVIOUSLY

It's a solid addition to the overall Breaking Bad work, it adds a good amount, it subtracts nothing (which is always a monumental hazard when you go back to a nominally completed story)
