That guy in the Cuban supermarket reminds me of UK supermarkets with 14 different types of Ibuprofen, boxes of all shapes and sizes for everything from “joint pain” to “headaches”. Prices go from 60p to £5, and every one contains the exact same active ingredients: 200mg ibuprofen

Imagine if one of them did work faster, they'll have messed up the ingredients or coating on the outside

In many cases they do work slower/faster by releasing at different rates due to the different binding agents. The generic of one med gave me horrible side effects bc it released faster than the timed release brand version- but it was $200 cheaper so I put up with it.

Some generics are definitely the same quality as the popular brand names, but there are times when one works better than the other or one generic is better than another generic.

It's actually true that ibuprofen lysine works faster, because it's absorbed quicker, but it's a bit of a downer to the marketing copywriter to have to put "works only marginally faster than the basic generic (which is absorbed within 20 minutes)!"
