If it were possible to make a voting machine that could be trusted, anyone would be able to set up a voting booth, or to vote from home. The method for inputting votes is a tiny link in the chain of trust that is required.

The only way a web voting will work is for the government to set up an e-identity for each and every citizen of the state, which is 2 civil wars away, identity has to be trusted, which is another civil war away, with secure 2-way link to check what your identity actually does

that last one is probably 3 or 4 or 4 civil wars and 1 world war away, but don't quote me on that. If after precisely 7 total civil wars and 1 world war i will be quoted on that - shoot the guy who'll do it. Don't even ask any questions.
