this depends on whether the DVD cases make the room nicer or not. if you don't have much stuff adding visual interest to the room, keep the cases visible. if there's lots of stuff and there's already more things to look at than you can track, put the cases away.
Given that all of my DVDs and Blu-rays are ripped to a media server and played from there, the physical cases should be kept
